Focus on quality of time with your children after divorce

Parents who are going through a divorce have to think about how they can best use their time with the children. They're likely going from having ample time to an arrangement when they only have a limited time.

Some people think that they need to cram as many activities as possible into their parenting time. This isn't the case. Instead, you have to remember that everyone, including the children, needs to have some downtime to relax and unwind.

Getting this time in while you're enjoying time with your kids is important. Let's look at some ideas.

Get outside

Spending time outside exploring can be very relaxing. Take a walk or sit out in the shade and enjoy some fresh air. The key is that whatever you do should be relaxing.

Play a game together

Choose a game to play together. Even if the game is spirited, it will still be a good way to unwind and create positive memories. You can take turns choosing a game.

Use screen time creatively

Screen time doesn't have to be on personal devices all the time. Instead, watch a movie as a family or play an online game together. Even if you're all doing something different, have everyone in the same room so you're still together.

Getting the parenting time schedule set is one of the most challenging tasks for some people when they're trying to work out a parenting plan. It may take some creativity to figure out how the children can have time with both parents when the parents aren't at work. Once you get this set up in a way that's best for the children, everyone will have a roadmap to use. In the future, you can modify the agreement to meet your children's needs.
